kinda of a quick question. Setting up a 35 gallon tank, 36x12x18. Anybody kno what size heat lamp/bulb i should use?

I used a heat lamp in it for a while, but with the screen lid I couldn't get a very good temp on the floor where it is important because of the height of the tank.
I'd recommend an undertank heat pad. They're not that much more if you consider you'll be buying bulbs every few months, and your leos will thank you for the great source of belly heat 24/7

i use 60 watt bulbs and cover half the screen with a towel to trap the heat and get 85-90f depending how cold it is out and use a UTH incase the tank doesnt heat hot enough.

so would i be better of with both heat pads and heat lamp?

i would use both just incase the bulb blows out or it gets really cold out

a heat pad on a thermostat will stay the same temp whether the weather is cold or hot (hehe like that one?)
if the room gets lots of light, I'd leave it at that unless you want to use a black or red night bulb for viewing after dark.

it's really up to yourself. I only use bulbs on two of my tanks now, one of them is a hex tank that just has a canopy fluorescent light for viewing, it doesn't really get hot. The other I will be using until it burns out then I'm going to toss it
