There should be directions in or on the box. It makes a difference if it is a flood light or a spot light. Spot lights go farther from the basking site than floods.

Hi-

The Big Apple MV bulbs, on the side of the box will be marked with a pin the wattage of the bulb and will say flood or spot in the same area. Depending on the basking temp for your chameleon species depends on how far away the bulb needs to be. I hang my bulbs from the ceiling, anywhere from 3-5" above the cages for my panthers. You should start high and adjust as need until you find the correct height. Hope this helps!

P.S.-

I hope you got the 100w flood and not the spot, you will have no use for anything other then the 100w flood!

Hope this helps!
