I have to agree with Brock's obsevations, Zuni ate a few days prior to going under a rock to sleep. He and all my collareds appetites have decreased in the last couple weeks. On their own, and have come out later in the day only to spend less time actually up each day now ! But a good example I always keep in my mind as far as still being able to deficate, is Cleo my egyptian uromastyx.
When I got her and she had the 3d degree burns on her back and sides (open bloody flesh for one year) Uro's temps should be super high 110 -130 I could not have that kind of heat on her flesh !
But need something for her to survive and eat, and so on.
I started with a 30 watt track light bulb cliped above the screening top, not directly on htere like normal.
This only brought the basking spot to about 70 for the first few months. (She ate, and deficated, BUT>> It did take longer to relieve herself. Instead of everyday or every other, when normal temps, it would take anywhere from 1-2 weeks but she ALWAYS WENT !!!
As she healed temps got higher to 75 and gradually built back up but, with no problems.
I'm also seeing it right now with my Bearded dragon he has been asleep for almost 2 weeks, at about 75 degrees, just room temp, he ate before he went to sleep superworms and salad. He just woke yesterday moved to another place in tank and left me a BIG present to clean, so he also went, just took longer. I feel for the most part they know what they are doing !! Eve
