repost, I NEED SOME HELP

ReptiKH24 Oct 28, 2003 10:09 AM

I've housed my male and female leo since the day i got them. My female eats anything that moves. My male on the other hand is a picky eater. They were both nice and fat during the summer and bred. Produced 8 eggs, 2 of which were fertile and 1 hatched. This fall i've seperated them both. My male seems miserable. He eats maybe 5 mealies per week now and the thing that is worrying me is that he hasn't eaten at all in the last 2 weeks. I've noticed one time he pooped out whole mealies. But seriously what is wrong with him? All my other leos are doing super.

First double check your temps. The mealworms were probally regurged not passed in fecal matter. If your temps are to low he might have trouble digesting. If he hasen't eaten in a while maybe he just pigged out and couldn't keep them down. If he is housed closely to the female you may want to move them further apart. Maybe even in a seperate room. He can probally smell the female and he is trying to find her. That is about all I can think of. If none of these suggestions work, maybe a vet visit is in order.

yea it does look like he threw it up. And the female is housed with another female right under his tank. So he could problably smell both of them. Ok, i'll move them and see if it works.

Another issue I can think of is what I posted below. Your gecko might be having a little bit of a time trying to digest the mealies tough exo. Try also feeding him some freshly molted ones. Just a thought from a novice. =)
