UroJade Oct 28, 2003 07:16 PM

i have to give my new beardie a shot everyday for a month becuase she has a respretory infection so im queazy about it already and i didnt do so good on my first one when the vet did it she didnt move but when i did it i needed my sister to hold her down so i was wondering if anyone has a special way that they do theirs to make it easier or will i just have to get better at it through expeirience?

I suggest that you soak your dragon in nice warm water immediately before the shot. The warm water helps loosen the muscles and maybe makes the scales softer, too. It also helped relax my girl that needed shots, too.
Place the dragon on a well lit surface & slide the tiny needle in between the scales (going with the angle of the scales) on the "forearm" of the front leg. Alternate the front legs with each shot, do not use the hind legs. Then right after the shot, put the dragon back in a nice warm, not hot, bath. The warmth increases the circulation to the leg, helping the muscles not be so sore.
This process made giving injections to my girl a "One Woman Job"....she really didn't even flinch
GOOD LUCK!!!
