Is it possible to keep a WTF with any other herps.

alebron Oct 28, 2003 07:35 PM

I have plenty of hiding places. The tank is a Thirty gallon. I heard that anoles, smally day geckos have been kept succesfully with frogs. I will be going to a herps expo in November.

Another Question, what would be a healthy subtrate that won't harm the WTF, and keep a Pothos vine alive. Another thing, can this vine be kept in just water for at least a week or two.

All help we be appreciated

If you have to keep something with your whites, why not just get another whites? The Whites are able to eat amoles, and any other lizard of similar size would also become dinner. Having lizards in with then may also stress them. As for substrate, I use bed-a-beast. Any other coco fiber will work too. It will keep the pathos alive and your frog will love it.

So what do I do, take the pothos out, and plant it in the coconut husk, but wouldn't that leave a lot of space for the subtrate to dry.

For substrate i would use orchid bark, or something similar. in my 55gallon WTF tank i have a layer of sterile potting soil, with orchid bark, (which is just kind of mossy stuff if you didnt know already) it looks nice, keeps the frog clean and off the dirt and also grows plants nicely. its great if you ever wanted to add orchids too!

As already stated, it's never a good idea to mix species. Especially amphibians with reptiles. Too many problems can arise. Reptiles require much higher heat than a Whites, for one. Plus, your White would eat the lizards. There is also the problem with parasites being transfered.

As for the substrate, Bed-A-Beast is the best way to go. Your pothos will THRIVE in it, just plant it right in there. You can also put pothos directly into water and they will grow like mad there as well!!!
