Question about putting a female in with a male.

VTEC May 29, 2003 05:35 PM

I just tried to put my new female in with my male and the male instantly went to nip at her tail and then her neck. The female had just laid an egg about a week ago from a tangerine that my friend had living with it (he sold me this female a week ago). I don't see anymore eggs in her belly so I figured I would try and put her in with my male. Would it be detrimental(sp?) to her health if he 'deposited some mojo' or should I keep her in her seperate 10 gallon for some more time? any comments greatly appreciated.

oh keep her by herself... she needs to recoup from the breeding season. its sresses them and takes alot out of them. she needs to be by herself and she still could be gravid if she only laid a week ago... at that stage the eggs arent very big and alot of people can not tell that they are holding eggs. if she has been laying this season already i would not mate her again until next spring.
