3 month old hatchling substrate

mike3 Oct 28, 2003 09:19 PM

My hatchlings are just shy of 3 months old. I have them on papper now but they shred it at the coners because they try to dig. Are they old enough to have some very small bird seed substrate such as millet. If they aren't old enough what is the right age to change paper substrate to bird seeds.

I'm the farthest thing from an expert, but I've read 6" is ok to make the change.
