I own several sizes of vision cages. I have always thought the bigger the better! If you are looking for only one cage the 332 is the minmum I would invest in. Be very careful (I don't reccomend them at all) with UTH on plastic vision cages. I melted my first vision cage with one.
All my cages have a triple hood fixture and heat all my cages with the appropriate size bulb. Have at least 2 thermometers/hygrometers (digital ones found on Ebay for cheap!). Experiment with different size bulbs until you can find the correct gradient.
With Ball Pythons be sure to have plenty of hideboxes. As for decorating, go all out. I am currently working on transforming a vision into a terraium with live plants and a water feature following some instructions I found at blackjungle.com. It a step by step instructions for it. Have fun!

How do i get belly heat for a ball python? could i put the UTH on a rheostat, that way i could just have it set at 90 degrees? will 90* melt plastic?

Good question about UTH for visions and hope to hear more feedback from others regarding this. I recently bought two visions and are only now testing the setup and havent yet found the right balance (if I do, many more will be on the way).

I am testing a flexwatt type product under the cage measuring both tape and inside the cage temp..... the tape is running a temp of just under 95 degrees, inside the cage over the tape is around 88 or so, without substrate which would be fine over newspaper but I rather use multch and I think the temp with mulch might not be warm enough... like I said, this is running wide open right now and I rather have it controlled through a proportional thermostat but I couldnt get the temps up high enough initially.... I have been running this now in a stacked cage environment for just over 12 hours..... Im in no hurry to move the reptiles into their new enclosures until I get this right....

Another question about visions.... how well do they take to drilling..... one option I am toying with is flexwatt inside the cage under a heavy substrate but dont want to crack the cage experimenting...

Love you thoughts on any/all of the above...

well...after some research im thinking of now buying a 36" model neodesha lockable cage. It is a very basic design over the vision (which has overhangs that snakes can hide in above the Field of View- FOV for short). i can make a table/stand with drawers too, since i work at lowes part time i get a small discount on merchandise. i think im making the right choice. Also, how hard is it to hook up heat tape to a cage? and if i use a rhestat and thermometer, what are the possibilites of a fire happening?

I own several Vision Cages & Melamine. With the Vision cages the key to heating for snakes is 50w or 75w basking light only in a ceramic dome with that rating, belly heat is accomplished with Flex Watt Heat Tape attached to a dimmer (Rheostate). Flex Watt can be attached with a Foil tape designed for this. The Bean Farm, Big Apple, and other Vision cage retailers can give you more advise on the heating products appropriate for use with this product. The more research from different sources the better. For Ball Pythons & Colubrids I use a digital thermometer on the Flex Watt Heat Tape and set Dimmer to 82f-85f only. This is equavault to body heat, and I have never melted any cage. I would recommend the use of 2 x4's when stacked as the heat from each light shroud makes the next level hot.
