Whoah, I just found out...

xelda Oct 28, 2003 10:49 PM

Eric Rundquist, author of "Reptile and Amphibian Parasites," works for KU, which is where I go to school.

Talk about having a strong resource right there in front of my face!

Thats cool, small world out there. I've met people online that lived 30 minutes away AND worked for the same company as i do hehehe. It would be cool to have someone close by that was as into geckos as me and loves coffee hehehe

HEHEHE ummmmmmmm we already got together for coffee...... sometimes its best to NOT get together with those that are that close LOL. I'm very careful who i disclose info too online. I've met some really great people (usually those ones are FAR away) and i've met some horrible people. I'll most likely not get together with anyone from the net again.... but its nice to at least talk to other people with the same interests. Now if i could only find someone like me who loves lizards, artwork, camping, cooking, online gaming, and small dogs, i'll be set LOL. Actually the list is longer but i can't be to selfish now LOL

As long as i can chat about my geckos i'm happy

To find someone not only share my life with but also my geckos LOL. He has to like animals in general though, not many people can tolerate my dog hehehe.

Oh about my dog..........I caught him taking a peek at Abby. That tank is very low and she was out at the food dish. They seemed to be trying to figure out what the other was.....it was soooooooo cute i wish i had a camera that could take pics in the dark lol. The night light just wont work hehe.

That's where madness begins.
If you have friends who like the same herps as you, they'll constantly be calling you telling you about cool ones that you can't help buying. Actually MARRYING someone who likes them is even worse. Soon you'll just be two people hopped up on espresso in a house full of herp racks, saying "I would have bought a new pair of pants this year, but I had to get in on that new morph...."
By the way, I'd appreciate donations for new pants.

That madness has already begun hehehehehe
I see what you mean, however, i'd much prefer someone with silimlar interests than not, especially when it comes to lizards. I don't want to be with someone who will freak out about having mealworms in the house, or nag that i'm spending to much money on my geckos lol. I have learned that you both have to have your own hobbies and interests and be independent of eachother but its good for the relationship if some of those things are the same.
Plus in todays world its hard to both have a 9-5 job so for those days i'm doing 17 hour shifts etc. it would be nice to have someone around to keep an eye on my geckos.

I don't know how many people on here are married or whether their husband/wife like having geckos, other lizards and feeder insects in the house......but thats one of my criteria. I come as a packaged deal, dog, geckos and all hehehehehe

I'm very much a person who believes in balance and all things in moderation (except coffee)....so if it comes down to new pants or new gecko, i'll be getting the pants LOL. This is especially true if i find a great looking pair of pants that actually fit. Being so short does suck when it comes to clothes, everything made for short people isn't designed for ones with ummmmm larger thighs LOL

As for expresso, i don't drink it much, but i do go nuts for coffee, i don't have a coffee pot, i have a 30 cup urn

I also don't want to have to keep my geckos in one specific room. So anyone i do get together with will just have to accept that i'm short, have a small yappy dog and geckos in every room of the house hehehe I'm not asking to much am i?

Are you married?

I'm only 23 and I've been married 1.5 years.
The sad thing is that neither of us was inordinately fond of herps before we got together. Then we bought a snake at a pet store and got hooked. We do have different interests, but it is pretty cool working together on the whole reptile thing. My husband also keeps the phone company in business talking to a like minded reptile buddy in another state. I don't actually have any leos, I have cat geckos but I have to lurk here because there's no cat gecko forum and leos are the closest thing. (I can post my stock list if you like). I also have a small dog, but she doesn't yap. She goes Wup! and Baayyrrrrrr! and Snerk!. On the plus side she eats crickets and mice. Well, I mean, not exclusively.

I've always been interested in reptiles, usually would bring things home resulting in a good yelling at by my mom.....she doesn't like snakes hehe. I was engaged and my fiance didn't mind reptiles. He was another dragon collector i think thats why. I don't think he would have been to fond of me getting my geckos though.
I'd love to see a pic of your cat geckos. I would like to increase the variety of my collection with other geckos

Your lucky that your dog isn't a yapper. Mine has been taught to speak but usually he'll just snap his mouth like he is barking without the bark....its funny. Just wish he did that more often LOL

My dog does the same thing! He's a 10 year old Airedale terrier (who acts like he's 2) and he'll snap his jaws rather than bark sometimes. It's hilarious. It's like he's talking to you, but just can't find the words. He usually does it when he's excited about something (like me coming home for the weekend from univ.)

Ok so my dog isn't that weird then if others do it too. He does it when asked to *speak* and when he wants attention, and he wants attention 24/7. Little brat has the energy of a child despite almost being 7. He and i share the same birthday only 20 years apart, so he'll be 7 next month....(((i feel old!!!))) LOL

I don't mind the snapping, its funny. He used to and sometimes will still, nip at my ankles or butt as i walk down the stairs in the hopes i'll come back and play with him! He also thinks my bed (pillows and blankets included) are all his. I'd almost prefer to have another human with me than this dog....he'll kick me repeatedly until i either move or toss him off the bed LOL

What are you taking at university?

I'm in my 4th year of Mechanical Engineering.

The little guy gets so excited when I come home. He's getting used to me disappearing for a few weeks at a time, but whenenever I'm home for an evening, he's always edgy because I'm the only one who will take him out for a good long walk around town, and he knows that if I'm home, he's gonna get to go explore. (When I say 'little guy', I mean a 40 pound terrier)

He's the same way about bedding when we're camping. My sleeping bag is his as far as he's concerned. I've actually been squeezed to the edge of a bed by him, while he's stretched out on his side. Asking him to move in the middle of the night usually gets me a low pitched 'grrrr'. It's the same kind of noise I make if someone tried to wake me up at 3am. And don't forget the 'doggy dreams' in the middle of the night. Soft whimpering and twitching when he's in the middle of some sort of crazy dream. If you wake him up, he stares at you like 'what? why'd you wake me up? geez!'

I have so many interests, but at one point i wanted to take Aviation Engineering.

My dog is a small guy. 12 lbs tops. Gotta love the toy breeds. When i was at university, after i moved into my own apartment, i would take him with me to class. Most days though he was puppy sit by someone. Everyone loved him. Now that i work, he gives me the puppy dog pout when i leave and practically topples me over when i get home. I haven't taken him camping.....yet, that should be fun. Their dreaming is rather amusing isn't it....Chip barks, growls and runs in his sleep. He's known to get on the bed, right in the middle, get under the covers and put his head on the pillow. If i try to then get into bed, he'll give me a snarky look and a soft growl at which point i tell him to knock it off or get off the bed. He usually moves for me LOL

I love having pets. My crested gecko is located right beside the bed right now and he'll stare at me until i come and give him some attention.

I would start writing about the strange thing my dog does, but I could write a novel. Really. The dog is nuts. Not cute nuts, slightly disturbing nuts. However, like my sand boas, she's not small, she's efficient. Also good at blanket-warming and tracking down escapees.

Your dog, from what i can see is adorable. Thats a great pic!

I'll have to dig out some of mine....he's a little terror most days. He's currently sitting on the end of the bed, staring at the door. He wants in, then out, then in, then out....wish he would make up my mind hehehe

I'm moving my gecko unit to a more open part of the room (ok it will be once everything is moved LOL) and i'm a bit concerned about Chip and the geckos. He's shown great interest in them and i'm thinking i might have to attach the thing to the wall so if he jumps up on it, it won't fall over. I doubt it with his small size but this dog is mighty.....Little brat just got comfortable on the orangeish sweater i got out for work. Matches my pumpkin suit i'm wearing for the halloween party (would rather have as gone as a witch........oh well) Do ya think pumpkins can have fur LOL

I was thinking for next year, i'd make myself a gecko suit, tail and all. HEHEHE thats going to be fun

Well, it's like I always say... 'At least it's never boring'... My dog is not so interested in live animals, it's feeder mice and rocks I have to guard from her.
