my ball is 24in. long. is a 55 gal aquarium too big for him? i would like to get a female and house with him also, will that work? thanks.

In the larger tank, just make sure he's got plenty of hides. He should be able to move from one end of the tank to the other and feel secure about it. Big open spaces might make him opt for security instead of comfort.
On a second snake: Do quarantine her properly first. Even after quarantine, most people recommend against housing them together, as it can result in stress.
