11 inch heat tape is better, it is a higer wattage per foot thus lessening the chances of overheating. basically 20 watts is distrubted over a 12 x 11 inch area ,instead of for instance the 3 in which is ten watts per foot. so basicall 12 x 3 in piece will use 10 watts thus making it easier to overheat

Ill use the 11inch but my container is 17X11X7 so it would take up to much of the containers floor space. Is it still the way to go????
If so what should I do, leave more room on the shelf and let half the heat tape under the container and the other half on the shelf without touch of the container?? Should I cut it(would distribute power unevenly again so probably a bad idea right??) Or should I instead of getting it cut by the foot get it cut by 6 inches and then put it sideways(although I think someone jus posted that it only comes by the foot at the 11inch size, but maybe I can cut it mself if it is safe)
Sorry for the long post
Thanks
Jack
read a bit farther down by krakleboys post about heat. for the smaller enclosures get the four inch (the bean farm carries it) unless you want your heat running down the back of the rack and in that case go with the 11

Is this one of those plastic drawers they sell premade at walmart? I'm not sure if under-drawer heat is the best for those. I would probably do 11" down the back of the drawers for those. I'd worry that the tape would get caught somewhere on the drawers.
You cannot cut 11" tape in anything but 1 foot increments. It's marked where you can cut it. If you try other places, you'll cut through the electrical filaments.
