Do I really need a brand-name iguana spotlight?

Hi, guys, question:
Lately, I've been using regular lightbulbs for heat and light in Bud's cage. I still use the UVA/UVB tube, of course. My question is this: the Zoo-Med-type iguana spotlights in the petstores claim to emit UVA/B, also, and this was their main draw for me. Is it an appreciable addition to the UV he's already getting from the tube and visits outdoors? Winter is coming, and I don't want him to be deprived of UV, since he won't be going outside for a few months. What do you think? Are pet store spotlight-type bulbs worth the money?

Thanks!
-Erin

A regular household lightbulb does the same thing if it is for heat...some of the "reptile" bulbs are different colors to "enhance" the color of your igs, but really you only need normal light bulbs...as long as you are using the proper UVB tubes like you said....good luck...Lyn

There is an incandescent-type bulb that's supposed to put out UV. I think one has the brand name UV heat... they're like 65$ and up. They're pretty decent but they burn out so fast for the money you spend on them. You also have to put them 18 inches away from the reptile. The animal I had one on gets along without UV anyway so I can't tell you about the quality of the light.

Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
