PETCO Care Sheet..(didn't want you all to miss this further down)

Christyj Oct 29, 2003 12:20 PM

Please shoot off a letter to PETCO to let them know how rediculous and deadly their care sheet is. They can't ignore 100 E-mails!
This is one of those things that you shouldn't assume other people will do, YOU need to "JUST DO IT".

Do they have a moron writing these care sheets?
* keep mealies available for babies 24 hrs a day..
* pinkies be 10% of their diet
* they should be on large grained calcium sand (Calci-sand)
* feed adult dragons 3-5x a week
* the cool end should be misted frequently to maintain humidity
* no mention that the dragon needs calcium "with d3"

That's just disgusting!!
URL is for Care Sheet is: http://www.petco.com/assets/articles/caresheets/pdf/ralbeardeddragon051503.pdf

I think we should ALL contact PETCO!!!

Hopefully we can get this caresheet updated. I think it is a major step for these corporate petstores to actually provide caresheets in the first place. Much of the caresheet is decent; I especially like the checklist for a responsible owner. Please don't just flame them, be professional and courteous so they will take our suggestions seriously. Thanks Christy!

In my letter I did say that their care sheet was apalling, and it is, considering people assume they know what they are talking about and take it as law.

But then I listed the statements that needed to be corrected and gave them the correct information.

That's all it takes!

I agree as well......I have already sent them an email stating somewhat the same as Christy's.

Read the care sheet and really the only things that stand out as wrong, is the mealworms offered all day, misting in cool end of the enclosure and caci-sand. The rest is pretty accurate.

actually, should also add, there is no mention of what sort of greens to feed it or how often and dragons don't need a UTH at all, as long as they have the correct overhead heating/lights.

will email them my feelings as well.
