My New Baby Has Arrived!

lizard-lady Oct 29, 2003 01:24 PM

Hello! Orion is here in his new home! He is a ornate juvie and I got him from Doug Dix. He is so cute! He is tan, cream, gray stipes and yellow spots on his back. He was on his basking spot; which is up to a 110 degrees, and panting. The panting I read is normal. Now he is perkier and exploring his new home.

I'm going to get a hotter basking bulb for him because this one took such a long time to heat up and when I put it on the timer to come on in the morning I want it to heat up as quickly as possible. I'm goin to remove the cloth towels from the ventilation holes and I'm afraid the temp will drop thats why I want to get a hotter bulb.

I just bought a male from Doug as well. about two weeks ago. He is a Jordanian male Ornate,He is starting to eat a little more and become more active. Doug was pretty confident that this was a male. I hope so anyways. Let me know how yours is doing and what he or she is eating.

tsp22 he is eating the substate right now which is plain millet birdseed. I put warmed up mixed veggies(diced carrots, little lima beans, peas and corn)which he is investigating right now.

Is it a male or female you have? And was it one of the Jordanian Ornate? Mine seems to be eating just doesn't look like he is putting any weight on yet. I wonder if ours are from the same batch.

I'm not sure I have a Jordanian but Doug did tell me it was a male.

Veronicag, when I go out tonight to get the better bulb, I'll pick up batteries for my digital camera. I'll take some pictures but I will have to figure out how to put them in my posts. I'm new to the forums.

Probably the easiest way to post a photo is to go to Photo Gallery at the top of this screen. Click on Upload Photos. Select the info that pertains to your photo and find the location of the photo on your computer by clicking on Browse. When you're finished click on submit at the bottom and that't it. Then when you post a new message you will have an option at the bottom of the screen that says "Select Image form Photo Gallery" and your photo should be listed there. Just click on it.

Good luck and I can't wait to see what he looks like!

Hi Veronica. I followed your instructions for putting a picture in my post. I don't know what to do but I'll try again. Sometimes my 'puter does that.

Do you have any other pics of your new Uro.
I'll try to post a few of mine as well.
I bought my male from Doug Dix about 2 weeks ago.
Let me know if you find that your new guy prefers a certain type of food. Mine has been eating from my hand.
They maybe from the same group.
I'll email a pic of my uro to you as I don't know how to post.
My email adress is tps530@yahoo.com if you want to try emailing any other pics of your new URO.
