How can you tell a Pastel jungle is super just by looking at it?....

kirby Oct 29, 2003 06:31 PM

I hope someone can clear this up for me. I want to know what are the destinguishing characteristics that separate a super from a normal pastel jungle. Given the range of pastels, especially from a Pastel x Pastel breeding, it is easy to imagine a range of very good Pastels which might overlap with not great supers. When I look at Super pastel jungles for sale there is a considerable range at least by image. I am wondering what the features are that breeders have recognized that correlate with an animal being a definite super. I ask because I will hopefully do some Pastel jungle x Pastel jungle breeding in the not too distant future and want to be able to pick out all of my supers. I have also considered getting a super pastel jungle this year and wonder if there are particular features that make some supers more desirable than others. I would appreciate any insight concerning this issue that breeders are willing to share. Thanks.

JK, I have no idea. It just seems to be a selling point. IMHO, if you have to work at seeing the difference, why bother.

Bottom line, I don't know.

I read it as you asking the difference between a Pastel and a Jungle Pastel.

Its a SUPER!

All kidding aside Bill, I've been fortunate enough to hatch out a few pastel jungles and their is no mistaking them. But this year when I hatched 2 Supers it was WOW! As you can see they are truly spectaular.

Now I agree that Supers can vary greatly, but regardless, if you are used to hatching out pastels, you will have no trouble identifying a Super when it pips. Their heads are a very pale lavender. Much more pale than a regular pastel. And their blushing is far more extensive.

Good luck!
