Scarlet Kingsnake Maximum Humidity

cod6545 Oct 29, 2003 07:24 PM

Hey- I'm currently housing my Scarlet in a vivarium usually used for Dart Frogs. He loves it! If I take him from his normal cage, he always tries to get in the viv, even if it is across the room. The problem is humidity. It stays at 95- 100% day and night. Is this to much for him? Thanks. Brooks

Are you keeping the scarlet king with dart frogs? Scarlet kings do not inhabit tropical rainforest situation, however if it is very moist, he may be wandering to discover a dry area as they are unsettled in a lot of moisture. If indeed you are keeping them with frogs, then as you perhaps know the risk of crossing a disease which always happens when you least expect it, so I would not take the chance. I would keep the cage separate, and the humidity and climate for the scarlet king should be kept close to area where he is from.

It's a setup made for Dart Frogs but I don't have any in yet. I was letting the waterfall and such run for a few months to make sure it will work. Thanks. Brooks
