Un-Tubtraining... sort of long.

BeDreamin Oct 29, 2003 08:11 PM

Hey, hope everyone's been all right, I haven't been around for a while.
Well the deal is, I'll be going to college next year. And of course Rex won't. I'm trying to get off-campus housing just so I can bring Rex and the other critters but that's not looking good for freshman year. The problem is that over the summer Rex has become totally tub trained, and won't go outside the tub, and no one in my house is willing to give her a bath everyday.

So far I've tried forcing her to go on newspaper again, but she won't. I've let her go three and four days without going to the bathroom but I break down, assuming that's unhealthy. She won't go in a container of warm water placed in her cage, tried that. She will ONLY go in the tub now. She used to have a favorite spot of linoleum in my TV room that she used to go on (brat) but she's given that up too.

How long can I let her stay in her cage without going? I don't want to cause any serious constipation problems, but she needs to learn to go in her cage again. Three or four days seems like she must be massively uncomfortable, and I don't have the heart to let her go longer unless I'm sure it won't hurt her... Any suggestions welcome...

Thanks guys and gals.
Peace

Where are you going to start college at? When I started college (in a different state than where I'm from) "they" said that "all freshman have to live on-campus for the first year." And of course, since it was supposedly written in stone, my parents made me live in the dorms (which I highly disliked). I found out the next year that this is not necessarily true... out of the thousands & thousands of freshman, how could they verify each & every one is living on campus? They can't! So if I were you, I would try to get an apartment, or at least live somewhere where you can have reptiles. If worse came to worse, just say you are living with a relative right around the corner from campus. Trust me, parents/siblings get real tired of taking care of spoiled critters really quick! And next thing you know, they are trying to adopt them out behind your back. Ok, ok, I am just rambling. Anyway! Good luck, keep us (me) posted!
