Agressive Breeding Question

NateDiggity Oct 29, 2003 09:04 PM

I have a female who isn't receptive to my male. Lately the male has been trying extremely hard to change her mind.

I had planned to keep these two together all the time.

However, my girl is getting a lot of abuse. The male will bite her everywhere from neck, to legs, to the tip of her tail. Ride her or get dragged around by her all over the tank. She is really starting to show some where. How far is too far. Should I seperate them now?

Thanks for any help,

Nate

Yes, you should seperate them now, before things get worse.

Yes it would be best to separate them. I have one female who acts the same way; she would become very agitated and bite the male back when he attempted to mate with her. I was able to get her to breed after many supervised ‘dates’.

If your female is receptive, she will sit still and be very passive, and let the male do his thing. But if she becomes restless, and starts slowly waiving her tail in the air, then it would be best to take the male out and try another day. Hope this helps, and best of luck.
