I finally got my female blue tegu . She`s 1 1/2 years old And 34" long. She is going to be santiegos companion in 6-12 mouths . Russ

i know you know what you are doing as far as tegus go. but do keep in mind that this is a blue tegu and will not get nearly as big as santiego will. your blue is probably already full grown. or atleast will not grow much more. while santiego if i remember right is over a foot longer and will keep growing and keep in mind that length is not everything. remember total size such as weight. think if they are in the same cage, basking and satiego lays on her while basking or such. he could easily smother her. maybe even try to mate with her and the blue being much smaller could seriously get hurt by it. not telling you what to do, just pointing some things out you might wanna think about. you make the call, im sure you'll make the right choice.

Matthew, you are correct when you say that Russ knows what he's doing. His female Blue Tegu will grow several more inches and bulk up quite a bit in the next year. The female Argentine that lives with Felix, my large Arg. male, is not much larger than my full grown Blue female. She's never been hurt or injured by Felix in any way. Russ will introduce them when he feels that she is ready.

I did talk to Stella about this . She keeps blue females with Chacoan males as we speak . She also keeps blue females With huge red males .She has never had a problem with them beining in the same cage . Right now She is to small to be put in with him . Im thinking Probley nexit year this time . I am going to feed her lots of food so she will get some more size on her . I will also try to post a picture when I have time ( when my son lets me. hes 7 mounths old).Thanks for the consern. Russ
