pithons Oct 29, 2003 11:51 PM

i build a 6' x 2' x 2 plywood cage with malmine bottom 3/4 thick . i got 2 holes cut out on top for 2 heat lights but i need help finding the best method of heat padding the bottom. i used heat pads befor on malamine flooring and over time with moistur it warped and rotted out the floor. does heat tape work well inside the cage? whats the best method to heat the underneath? thanks houseing a 6' green anaconda too so it'll be pretty humid in there.

Try covering the bottom with aluminum foil sheets first. Just duct-tape that to the bottom floor. This should last quite long. I have mine there for 2 years already and it's still ok.

can cause toxic fumes to be created due to the glue compounds used to make hard pressed woods like melamine. I don't know if I can locate an accurate source for this claim, but it is something to consider.
