In December 2002, Hans Jacobs published his account of successful breeding of the Batanta tree monitor, Varanus macraei, or commonly known blue tree monitor. The adults were fed insects and crustaceans, the babies incubated 159 days producing 2 beautiful hatchlings. Herpetofauna 24(141):29-33, 2002. Dr. Jacobs recently published his description of V. bohmei, another prasinus monitor from Waigeo island (Salamandra, 39(2):65-74, 2003). Congratulations Dr. Jacobs.
