Another newbiw question!!!

hey everyone.

I/m a newbie to crocidilians but i am not a newbie to reptiles. i have had many different species of reptiles for years. I am noe thinking of getting a baby american alligator and i have a few questions.

1. How fast does an alligator grow.

2. Since i live in kentucky and we have some pretty cold winters i know that when the alligator gets too large to house indoors, i will have to build an enclosure outside and it will have to accomidate the animal through winters. Does anyone have any plans or pics of outdoor enclosures to where the alligator will be able to spend the winters indoors?

That is basically what i need to know for now. i already have an enclosure for the alligator to stay in my house while it is small but it will eventually have to be moved outdoors.
Also if there is any other info that you can give me i would really appreciate it.

I do want to stress the fact that i have bot gotten this animal yet because i want to be fully prepared and full of knowledge before i do decide to buy. thankyou very much to all that reply.

why dont you think of getting a dwarf caimen, either a shnieders or a cuviers. You would be able to house a full size caimen indoors evan at full growth(still need a very large enclosre)but not evan close to what you would need with an amercian. I cant give you exact measurements with americans but they do grow extrememly fast. You can get a growth chart at i beleive www.crocodilian.com
Hope i helped
