What type of corns are these???

herpconsultants2 Oct 30, 2003 03:57 AM

I recently acquired these corns as part of a trade. They previous owner said they were "cinnamon" corns. I have never heard of them and a quick search hasn't given me any clearer an idea!

In life the appear more green/yellow than in the photo, real nice.

Thanks in advance.

I think they do look like Caramels.

Could be wrong though. I dont think I have seen a corn that color. Looks almost like a KY black rat influence.

Did the person you bought them from tell you what their parents were??

If not, another classic example of people breeding snakes and not telling (or not wanting to disclose) the purchaser what blood is in the animals.

Nah, I see no signs of Kisatchie markings in those snakes, but the pictures (although VERY nice) aren't the best for showing the markings of those snakes. Still, I doubt if they have Kisatchie in them.

BUT, with the creamsicle fiasco running rampant, it may have just a tiny little bit of emoryi in it. Who can say for sure? I personally don't trust ANY cornsnake morphs out there until I am shown why they can't be hybrids for some reason. Better to err on the side of caution, but that is a whole other matter.

Besides, who's to say that the original WC that spawned the caramel line wasn't a hybrid. Supposedly it didn't look like a typical corn. ...and, since it came from a pet store (isn't that correct?), who knows WHAT it was or even if it truly was a WC animal. Those are just my thoughts, of course.

The yellow indicates a morph known as caramel, but the color here is not exactly what you'd expect.
They also look like really light versions of a rootbeer corn, which are partly influenced by emory's ratsnakes (which are the smae species)
The look of the head is pure guttata, imo, so I'd guess that these snakes are mostly corn with a little guttata thrown in.
Calling them cinnamon corns is not a good bet, since you dont want folks to think they are pure corn unless you can be sure.

Those are classics. They are pure caramels and certainly not hybrids of any kind in my opinion.
