DECOR help for a 38 reptarium

chamsrcool May 29, 2003 08:02 PM

I would like to know what plant would be good for a jacksons chameleon in a 38 galoin reptarium.

I have a huge philodendron hanging plant i was going to use but dont no if it will take too much room since my last jacksons never climbed in his potho. also how would i hange the plant?

or do you know if ficus trees are sold around 24 inches tall?

or what plant would you use?

Also i found someone welling to sell me a babyjacksons for cheap but it would be like 2-4 weeks old. what would it eat...fruit flys still or pinheads?

To hang the plant in a reptarium, you could do the following:
Use a wooden dowel (put inside the reptarium, but outside the plastic pipe)

Or you could just sit the potted philo on another pot (placed upside down)....?

You could use anthurium; ficus (yes, they come in 24" size); pothos; creeping fig; bromeliads; boston fern; dracaena; hibiscus.

As far as what plant to keep, I highly reccommend ficus trees. You can find some at Home Depot, or check your local nurseries. Other plants I've used with good success with my Jacksons include pothos, night jasmine, and of course schefflera.
As far as baby jacksons go, I would HIGHLY advise against getting a jackson so young. They usually have a high mortality rate (for the first 3 MONTHS). Stick to the older Jacksons.
Just my opinions, hope this was helpful
