beardy hiding out a lot

ello
recently my beardies behaviour has changed greatly. he used to be out basking all day and whenever anyone came into the room he would scratch the glass and run about til we took him out his tank to play and run about. lately (past 2-3 months) he has become a lot more reclusive, he has a little hide that will go into during the day and its not been uncommon for him to stay there for a day or 2 without emerging, sometimes he will kick up the substrate so that the entrance to his hide is almost completely closed up. i put in fresh greens and they go untouched , if i put a worm upto the hide entrance he will come out to eat and then bask for a bit but goes back to the hide . when he is out basking he wont demand attention like he did before.

now , im not really worried at the moment because he still looks healthy and will eat when offered insects, he is somewhere between about 1 year and 6 months old. i know they calm down as they age but this is a big change in behaviour. the only change in his enviroment has been the drop in temp as winter approaches, i stay in scotland, uk so its not the warmest climate and his temps have maybe dropped by 5-10 degrees, possibly a bit more through the night

is this a normal, ie have others experienced this kind of change ?

ive no doubt left out some info u might need so please ask if i have and i'll get back to u

thanks in advance

Sounds like he is trying to brumate, which is normal, it is sort of like beardie hibernation.

i had considered this due to the drop in temp
i hadnt planned on brumating him, i have no plans to breed and would prefer to over winter him

if i was to raise the temps would this help ?
