my retic finally ate its first meal consisting of a small hamster....after a long and nail gritting period of waiting.
thanks for all the help and advice..
so i can start handling it from now on? or should i wait till it gets used to its feeding routine first.
i read that retics have a very strong feeding response and are often aggresive inside the cage..how true is that?

I think it would be best to hold off on the handling until your snake takes down a couple more meals. It's usually best to take your retic out of its cage with a snake hook. retics will sometimes learn that opening a cage means that food will be introduced. Removing your snake from it's cage with a hook will usually break up the feeding response. When your snake gets larger, a hook can be used to gently rub your snake to let it know that it's not going to be fed, but rather it's going to be held. Enjoy your new retic..
