Does anybody out there know whether it can be harmful to a toad if it does not mate and thereby gets rid of her eggs?

Does anybody out there know whether it can be harmful to a toad if it does not mate and thereby gets rid of her eggs?
My thoughts would be that unlike reptiles, they can reabsorb the eggs. I have experience with a gravid bullfrog that never laid eggs.
