Hi. I think my turtle has a fungus, (white spots on his carapace which are not improving, and which have spread a bit) too, and so for the past few days he's been out of the water, in a cardboard box lined with a towel. (He made terrible scratching sounds the first day he was in there, trying to get out, and hence the towel. He's calmed down a lot with it in there and now often burrows into some of the corners and naps). I try to keep him warm, but mostly I just try to keep him dry because from everything I've read, that helps dry out the fungus. He gets a bath of water and iodine (it looks like weak tea) for about 20 minutes to a half an hour everyday. He doesn't seem to like it and I can't blame him, but, again, this is what I've read regarding treatment; the iodine, being an antiseptic, is supposed to kill the infection. Then, I rinse him off, and put him back in the box to dry back out. I feed him, and then put him back in his tank for about an hour everyday so he doesn't get too dehydrated. All told, then, counting the iodine bath, he's in the water for about 2 hours a day, and the rest of the time he's dry. The fungus has stopped spreading and it looks like it's starting to clear up - I think this is the 5th day he's been in the box. I've heard that it can take a long time to clear up, so I'm remaining optimistic.
Hope this helps.
