Breeding Question...Please Help....

Robert Oct 30, 2003 06:55 PM

Hello all...I am currently considering purchasing some adult bearded dragons and was just wondering what age they can breed up to? I am asking this because I would like to know whether or not these will successfully breed for me or if they are too old to breed? Any comments or answers will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks alot,
Robert Remendowski

Most dragons will successfully breed, but the more important question is will it be healthy to let the dragons breed. If you are questioning if they are too old, Im curious as to how old these dragons are? Why not buy a baby or two, raise them and learn more about them, and then when they are ready to breed................go for it and let them breed? Then you would know what kind of shape they are in, or how old they are, and have a good foundation for babies. This will also give you time to see them go through all the growing steps and get into breeding with a good amount of knowledge. Do you have any dragons now? Or had any experience with them? Just probing for a little more background. Chris

Yeah, Chris has given you some good advice there..

I'd also like to add that it'll give you an idea of what it costs to raise the babies. An individual baby is usually far more expensive to keep than a single adult beardy. They will eat FAR more crickets (a clutch of 20 beardies could easily go through 1,000 crickets per day between 'em)...

Just another thing you need to think about before choosing whether to breed
