Madagascar Gecko: Dark Mouth

beuz Oct 30, 2003 06:58 PM

Hello

I have a baby female madgascar day gecko, about 6 month old. First of all, she always had difficulties to shed her skin. The skin was dead but remained attached on her body. She looked like a mummy. I already posted some message here about this. I followd the advices, by buying a small humidifier that I placed in the container. Seems the skin is slowly removing itself.

In the mean time I had her, I had 2 males same age. Those ones getting big, but she remains so small.

However, new since yesterday: she stays on the ground, half the body beneath heating rock, and I think I see her mouth kind of black. (the edges)
Temp in the container is 34 degrees Celcius, and humidity is about 60%

Any1 has an idea on the problem please.

Beuz

Hmm, is she housed with the males, if so I would seperate them. Do you see her eat ever? I'm not familular with this species so I dont want to guess on the mouth condition but could possibly be a sign of mouth rot. Go to http://www.drgecko.com/ and you can look up the symptoms(sp) to see if a vet visit may be needed, it may be a good idea anyways.
