feeding question

B_Lodge Oct 30, 2003 07:03 PM

I have a ball I got in May. I was feeding it every week like I read, but found out the food was to small so I feed the size I was told to on this forum. It ate the first one fine but wouldnt eat them any more and has not ate for over a month. I was told the last time I asked this question to feed prekilled food so i did that this week and it wont eat it, I have tryed 4 times since last weekend and it wont eat. What should I do to make it eat a prekilled mouse.

Good for you for asking questions. Your snake would thank you, if he could.
There are many good tips on this forum for switching to pre-killed prey. You could try a search of the forum. Scenting a mouse or rat with soiled gerbil bedding, placeing the snake in a brown paper bag with the food and stapling it shut has worked well for me. Just be sure to place the paper bag securely in the cage, as the snake will probably escape it. Leave the bag there overnight without disturbing it.

If he doesn't eat, don't stress it. This is the time of year when many ball pythons go off feed. They can safely go for quite a while without eating.

Feeding ball pythons can be frustrating!! Just stick with it. Your patience will pay off.
Good luck,
