Well for my wd i just played wih it alot and it gradually became tamer usaully i ahnd feed it to like treats ect... I just held mine alot and waited for ti to tame it self down you coudl say just try thigns and see what works
local
thats what I did too just handled them a lot, and I always hand feed mine that way I dont get creepy crawlies escaping in my room. I hand feed them in the morning before work and in the evening when I get home. That is the only time Spyro is tame for me. As soon as feeding is done hes zooom gone.
It helps if you speak "Waterdragon." Heres the primer:
You:
Approaching from above= means that you are a predator or potentially harmful.
Eye contact= territorial challenge unless followed by ground licking.
Keeping your head lower then theirs= not a pedator or a challenge to their territory.
ground licking(a slow downward lick down while lowering the head)= recognition and is a friendly greeting.
Them:
lowering head or hold head tight to branch as to obscure the outline of the head= submissive and accepting your dominance.
Head bobbing= feeling threatened or dominate.
arm waving= Hey! you better check yourself buddy!
Running away= Not confident that you mean well or that interaction is rewarding.
And of course the best thing to do is to hand feed them when they are on you, this way they associate handling with being food, which they like. The age of the waterdragons also matters, babies(under 6mnths) and adults(over two years) are the easiest to get along with. Adolecents are rebelious and anxious, much like human teenagers.
LOL I love the way you sum it up, it took me a while to get most of that stuff. but I always hand feed and they know now when i'm coming with a closed had there is probly a treat inside.
