Do any of you guys know of if any commerical pet stores such as
PetsMart or Petco carry Hermit Crabs. I almost bought a crab today at the mall. But, I thought the price was too expensive. He had the little crab in a tiny little critter keeper. Those are only like 4 or 5 bucks...and it had some sand...and you had to buy the water bowl, the shells and the sponge seperate...All you were getting was the darn Keeper, sand, the crab in one shell, and thats it. Not even the food for 19.99..I don't see paying 19.99 for a 5 dollar tank when I have a really nice 10 gallon tank I used to keep my tree frog in when he was a baby. I'm know enough about prices for cages and things having my frogs and fish and all.... I have water dishes. I mean don't you think It would be cheaper just to buy the crab and the food and stuff and Set the tank up myself......??????? I mean the crab, some sand, a bag of shells, and some crab food. I mean that's less than 25 bucks. I would think. Why pay 19.99 for a too small home for the animal when I can build it to my specifications. I mean I feel sorry for the crabs at the mall......But, would you go buy the crab there from the mall or go get one from a pet store????? I mean buying a crab from a cart at a mall just don't seem like Id be getting a healthy crab. Also they hand paint the shells they let them get in..Another thing that doesn't seem healthy.

Both petsmart and petco should carry it. Just check the fish section for a tank with no water and substrate in it.
