Fire, Princess, Sunset dead...

mike3 Oct 30, 2003 11:16 PM

today was unusually warm so i took the uros out to get a little sun, my next door neighbors german shephard jumped over the fence got into my yard and got to the uros before i did. Since i have Spike, Marshmellow, and Flame in brumation they were inside, but the hatchlings, Fire, Sunset, and Princess were out side. I was holding the hatchlings in my hands and the big guys where in big cardboard box. The hatchlings are fine, but Fire, Sunset and Princess are dead. by the time i put my hathings in my pocket, and ran to the box they were all dead. They are now barried in my backyard with headstones. The thing that makes me mad is after force feeding them for 2 weeks they started to thrive and their lives were brutally ended by a neighbors dog. While i was trying to save them i got bit in the hand. I am stressing if you take your uros outside put them in a secure tank or somewhere safe because anything can happen. I guess a cardboard box isn't safe enough.

J.F.C!!!
That is HORRIBLE!!! I am truly sad for you. I don't know what I would even do in that situation. I hope your neighbor keeps his dog more under control in the future. Wow. That really really sucks!

Hi,
I'm so sorry to hear this. It's a horrible thing that happened. I hate to sound rude, but I would make sure the neighbor compensates you for them, especially since the dog bit you. It was their fault, so they need to pay you some how, legally. Anyways, I'm truly very sorry to hear this. This should never have happened, to anyone.

If there is a leash law You could get at LEAST the Market Value of those three. AND since You got Bit, You can have the dog taken away. People who can't control their dogs Shouldn't have them. I'm sorry but after Being attacked 3 times, That's were I stand.

Glad to hear you are able to work things out and not take it out on the dog but rather the neighbors. The dog was just acting on natural instinct. If he can get out of the yard/over the fence it is the neighbors fault.

Sorry for your loss.

My heart would be broken. I'm sorry for your loss. I bet they were beautiful too. Take care of the bite, make your neighbor pay for that as well.

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine Blue being attacked by anything. He is like part of my family. You poor thing. And it isn't really anybody's "fault". The dog was acting on instinct, and the neighbors did have him/her in a contained yard. Sorry you got bit as well. Jeez! Adding insult to injury is an appropriate (albeit backward) saying in this case. Take care and let us know how everyone is doing!

I am so sorry! I know I would be devestated! Yes, the dog only doing something by instinct, but dogs can be trained and restrained.

I dont blame anyone, not even the neighbors. I know my dog would have done the exact same thing if they had uros in thier backyard. Even though i lost 3 uros i am happy that my hatchling uros are perfectly safe. And the dog bite is nothing bad, it barely broke the skin. Nothing to be alarmed or worried about. I dont know if i am going to get any uros to try to replace them. I just feel wrong having an empty tank in my house. So i think i am going to replace them, but not just yet.
