LEOPARD GECKO PAIRING FOR BREEDING????????

cv768 Oct 30, 2003 11:56 PM

I currently have 2 males and 6 females...

They are all het for specific traits....

MALES
1 Blizzard
1 Giant Leucistic

FEMALES
1 Normal
2 High yellow
1 Albino
1 Carrot tail
1 Leucistic

WHAT FEMALES SHOULD I PUT WITH WHICH MALE FOR THE BEST OUTCOME????

What happens if I breed the blizzard with the albino???

Leucistic and Blizzard are both recessive gene from what I can recall. So if you breed them with normals, high yellows or carrot tails I'm sure that the pigmentation trait would over write the Albino form.

If you breed the blizzard with the albino you'll get all normal looking doundle hets. Breed those double hets together and you'll get a small chance at a blazing blizzard. However I think I recall hearing that Tremper Albino are hard to combine with Blizzard, but I'm not sure about that. What kind of albino is it?

If you like giants, and it's truly a giant as in Tremper Giant, you might want to breed them all with your Giant patternless, as that's a significantly more valuable animal than a regular blizzard.

Depending on what traits the animals are het for, that could influence breeding paitring choices a lot.
