I just got some advice from Doug Dix about my new uro Joe who isn't eating since I brought him home. He suggested that a 15 minute warm soak in 1/2" of water might help - if he drinks, it will sometimes stimulate the appetite. Also he told me to offer warm (defrosted) frozen peas.

You can also try edible flowers (pansies, nasturtiums, hibiscus, roses, dandelions, etc.) or bee pollen to convince him he's hungry.

I don't know a thing about brumation, but I don't think they're supposed to lose weight if they're brumating.

Good luck and let us know!

have you getten a fecal exam done lately? Paracites will often greatly reduce their appatite and cause them to be lethargic, also if he is not eating greens it is not really a good idea to be feeding mealworms, hope this helps

Are you sure he has lost fat or just "stomach weight." Boulder has not eaten for a month and a half. His stomach definitely looks less round (of the two times I have seen him...he mostly just stays in his hide) but that is just because it is empty. Check the base of his tail and under his front legs for fat pads. If he has a good amount of fat on him he may just be brumating which, although scary to us keepers, is perfectly normal and healthy. If he is a recent purchase that never had time to establish a good fat base I would up the light intensity and heat (especially on the "cool" side of the tank...I had to raise Nebu's (young egyptian) cool side to 90-95 in order to get him back running around. I would also take a fecal in although this may be hard if he is not eating because he probably is not going to the bathroom either. Do you have a picture? Some of us may be able to tell his condition and give better advice.
