where to buy plants online?

deleteriousone Oct 31, 2003 04:40 AM

Does anyone have an URL to a site to purchase plants for my turtle tank? It would be nice if they did not charge too much for shipping.

What plants do you recommend?
I am thinking something like Java Moss or Java Fern a plant which needs little care. Anybody have clippings they want to sell?

Some of the plants I purchase will go into my large mouth bass tank (with snails) (http://www.microtek-inc.com/webcam/) if you care to take a look.

Dont know about buying plants online.

How big is your bass. I have 2 largemouths in my 120 gal. Also some bluegill, green sunfish, creek chubs, and bluegill/sunfish hybrids. My largest bass is about 6" long, the smaller one is 4.5". Also have some snails, occasional minnows for food, and 2 painted turtles. All except minnows are wild caught in Kansas by various means including rod and reel(ultralight), dip net, cast net, seine, and by hand.

My largest bass rules the other fish which generally avoid the turtles. I had some aquatic tiger salamanders for a while, but the turtles found their external gills to be tasty.

"petsolutions.com" sells a wide variety at great prices, but unless your buying alot of plants, the $15.00 minimum live plant shipping charge ends up making the plants the same price as the local pet shop.

My largemouth is about seven inches; he is not kept in the same tank as the turtles. The turtles are kept in the tank where I keep feeder fish; this gives them some food and exercise when they chase the feeders.
