The fires just seem to be getting worse! How are you managing the smoke and your chams? I hope all you make it thru OK. must be a pretty scary situtaion. I heard on the news that the winds have shifted (in the San Bernadino fires?) does this make it worse or better for you?

thinking of you!

We were pretty fortunate at our house to be spared, although we've had a tough week with all the ashes and soot floating about. We're moving from SD this weekend (not fire related) over to Riverside county, just south of San Bernardino and the fires there. Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire...
I went to visit American Cricket Ranch here in San Diego's East County. J.R. told me that the fire got as close as 1/2 mile away, but they were okay overall. I got a chance to see LOTS of fire trucks from all over California. Sacramento, Marin County, Oakland and plenty others that I didn't get a chance to see. What surprised me though was a group of about 5 fire trucks, all from Las Vegas.
Most of here in San Diego are either directly affected by the fires, or we know someone who was. We're grateful to our firefighters and everyone involved in fighting the fire or evacuations. It was especially nice to see Las Vegas involved in our situation. Seeing them somehow made me feel that this is now under control.

You're welcome! LOL! They have been saying on the radio that we sent some trucks to Califiornia. How are they doing?

Lele-

The weather has changed here, which is good news. We may get rain in the next few days, and the once out of control fire is now more then half contained. The winds changed about two days ago and the smoke has cleared. Over all things are looking much better in San Diego. I did take a photo of the nuclear sky when the fire and smoke was at its worst.

things are looking up. weather has changed for the good for now. although they are forecasting the santa ana winds again next week. one of my friends that lives in crestline was able to go home...to a house still in one piece and unscathed. my families cabin in in crestline also has made it out if the fire untouched. my parents and their friends are very happy(they share the cabin, boughtit together). i have another friend that lives on kuffle canyon road near arrowhead he hasn't been able to get any info on this street or house. it doesn't look good though it's pretty close, within a mile or 2 from cedar glen where they had pretty much lost very home. they had left with only a couple days of clothes because they were told their home would most likely be ok and would be able to return in a cday or 2 but it has been a week and the fire according to all reports went right though there. my fingers are crossed though. hopefully he will have a home to go back to.
