cage floor and vitamins

jeffboren May 29, 2003 10:04 PM

i have 2 questions.
my lizard hates all the flooring i have tried (bark chips, news paper, paper towel) except a folded towel is that okay to use?

He also only excepts banana's dippid in vitamin powder for suppliments. I use repcal calcium and i was wondering if banana's were okay since they have so much calcim from the vitamins which should make the phospheris not as bad . i only feed him a quarter inch slice of banana every 3 days is this okay?

not sure about question #2 but I use turf for the flooring and it seems to work great...

I have sheet linoleum for Tempest's cage floor, and will use the same on the cage I'm building for him over the next couple of weeks. He has a towel on his top shelf that he really likes, but he can just as often be found on his basking log too. He's become very good about not messing up his towel, he goes down a shelf or two to poop, and he's almost never all the way to the bottom (its floor level) so I don't worry too much, just keep him clean.

As for the banana thing, I'd guess as long as he's still eating a well balanced diet, don't worry about it. Its better that he gets is vitamins IMHO. Tempest won't eat fruit of any sort yet, he loves his greens but thats it. Picky ig, we keep working on it!
