other heating options?

ricci21 Oct 31, 2003 01:11 PM

now that winter is here again, my heat lamps are running full throttle. The thing is that i extended my tort family this summer and now have three setups that i need to heat, which is quite costly. i was wondering if there is anybody that knows of a better setup than gets the same results, but is a little easier on the electricity. thanks.

The only thing I can suggest is that if you are using separate lights for heat and UVB, you could switch to the mercury vapor UVB bulbs.

I would love to expand my herp collection, but the way utility rates are going up in California, I'm waiting for the time being. I hope to move to a property where I could renovate a barn/shed and install solar power, but that won't happen for a few years at least.

I have used Radiant heat panels for years with excellent results.
They come in several different wattages to fit your needs, use relatively little power and last a VERY long time.
In addition they are one of the safest heat sources you can buy.
