Damn nice pics. As a long term resident of San diego myself,I truly appreciate the effort that you went through to ppost these pics and sshow clearly the diverse herptofauna that inhabits our county. To bad the wildfires wiped out such huge gigantic tracks of land that were rich with snakes/lizards. Proctor Valley, once a truly awesome source of herps, is burned. I wonder how the next season will be.

Yeah massive amounts of areas have been burned. With that much burned up I beleive it will have some short term effects. Much like a serious drought. Does anyone know how fires of this size will effect the rodent population??? My experience turning boards and rocks right after a burn is less productive, but walking burns in the evening will produce a lot of snakes as the can be seen from quite a distance.... Fires happen naturaly and the animals should rebound within a couple years..
