Substrate and hiberation

Could some of the more experianced breeders out there tell me ,what in their opinion is the best substrate to use when hibernating snakes ? I keep all my sub-adult and adults on newspaper, would i need to change this to something that they can burrow into ? I.E aspen or wood shavings.

Peter,

It's perfectly OK to use newspaper.
When cooling, many breeders keep their cages exactly the same, except for turning off the heat.
