I think i may have found out why my new burm is kida motionless

cito Nov 01, 2003 08:38 AM

He stays under his infared heatlamp at night which is 75 watts. I cant really tell what the temp is right there cuz my thermometer is on the cool end of the tank. He stays under the heatlamp all night and in the morning i switch it to a 100 watt infared, and he stays under it for about 4 hours, and then goes under his hiding spot until night. Does that mean i should move my 75 watt night light to a 100 watt and just have it be one temperature all day long?

P.S. How can i tell if he/she is a male/female?

Yup, like I said. Go with a 100watt light. He shouldnt be under the heat lamp all day, he should go back and forth.

You can tell they sex several ways. If it is bigger, you can look at spurs, tail lenght, if smaller you can pop and you can always probe.
