Is there a rule of thumb to leopard food size? I know with bearded dragons it should fit between their eyes. Is there anything like that for geckos?

Yes, you should feed prey that are not larger than the width of the head of the gecko.

Protect the global wildlife.
For young one's (up to about six inches in length) I'd go even smaller than width of head size .. at least for crickets. Little ones do better with smaller crickets. For sub-adults and adults, I completely agree with Tim.
Good luck!

the prey size for leos should be no bigger than the width of their head... maybe 3/4 the size of the head would be good enough~
