Boa Skin Problem....

Zazanak May 30, 2003 12:26 AM

My boa just shed, and where I was giving him shots of tylan 50 for a R.I. there are these weird spots, they look like wounds, kinda greyish in color, and red in the center. He doesn't seem to be bothered by them(its like the scales are there, but not, they are thin or something), but they are kind of worrying me. I hope they will go away These didn't show up till the shed though. Does anyone have any ideas? Im going to clean the spots with a 50/50 peroxide water solution tomorrow, I doubt that will do any good but im going to try it.

I know sometimes if shots are always given on the same side
of the snake spots like those can happen (so I've heard..)
When I had to give shots to one of my boas (antibiotics) the
vet made sure to stress to me that every shot should be given
on the opp. side of the one prior.
I don't know how to treat it sorry.. hopefully other people
will read this thread, there are others that know much more
about this than I do

I gave them in diff spots, but usually on the same side, i would stay within a 3 inch range on his body. I gave it on the opposite side a couple times during the treatment. But there are spots for every shot, i can almost count everytime he got one on his body They don't seem to be affecting him any, everythings normal. And i figure they will go away, but I don't know for sure. Anyones help would be soooo great.
