Are There Such Things As......

Are There Such Things As... midget iguanas? I have and iguana that I have had for 1 1/2 years or - and it hasn't grown. Shes about 1 1/2 - 2' in length in a huge cage but doesnt show an interest in growing at all. She eats like a monster every other day with Rep-Cal once a week. She has a merc vapor bulb keeping her basking area a good 90 degrees. Would could be causing this? She has very bright colors too.

Have you had a fecal test done for parasites...this would cause non-growth...sounds like everything else is in order...what are you feeding her...2 ft at 1 1/2 yrs is not too small...she will grow for the next 3 yrs and it may be that you just dont notice the increase in size...good luck...Lyn

I have been feeding her a mixture of collards, mustards, yellow squash, and bannana. I am going to start her on para-zap this month so that'll take care of the parasites if she does have some!

Diet, worms, lack of UVB and heat can all play a part in growth problems. I just took in a 9 month old that was no bigger than an iglet. The diet: iceburg lettuce and cabbage. AND...it was a free roamer to beat all.
