Macro Photography thoughts...

One of my criteria when trying to decide which digital camera to buy last year was it's macro ability. I love the pictures that I get out of my Canon G3 BUT I definately give the edge to Sony and Nikon in the Macro Department. This is an unassisted (no add on lens) close-up I shot today in my back yard with the G3. I've shot similar shots with my brother's Sony and my friends Nikon 5400, both do a better job. I'd give Nikon 1st place in the macro category. Niether can compete with the battery longevity of the G3 however and that was the deciding factor for me. Waiting on the Sony 828 next month and the review at dpreview.com. Just thought I'd ramble since I received 3 "which camera" emails today.

Great picture! I like my Nikon's macro capabilities, but I am VERY interested in the new Sony. I've seen pics and specs on it and it looks very impressive. I'm not in the situation to spend $1000 on it, but with payment options, I'm really considering it. Plus it has a compact flash slot so I don't have to buy Sony sticks for it!

I saw a review for the new Sony on www.imaging-resource.com. I have decided this is a must have for me. I currently have a Fuji 6900 zoom. I was waiting for a camera that was an order of magnatude better. Seems like the F828 is it so I am going to buy.
