Azureus hunger-strike

Randy27 May 30, 2003 01:46 AM

For some reason my female azureus (@ 8 months old) has stopped eating. No changes have been made to the enclosure and the male is eating just fine. She doesn't seem to be getting much thinner, but I'm worried since it's been well over 4 days since I've actually seen her eat. I offer ff's and springtails, but to no avail. Any thought or suggestions? Thanks,
Randy27

I would get a fecal sample taken to the vet. The male may not be showing symptoms yet, though he may be infected by a parasite as well. These parasites are often present in a frog's system, and then triggered by some form of stress.
Remember, anorexia in herps is a symptom, not a disease. And for the price of the vet visit and fecal, it will still be cheaper than the price of the frog.
