EGG LAYING BEHAVIOUR??? HELP

CDN-Cresties Nov 01, 2003 07:55 PM

Hey, everyone!!! Last night when i came home from a halloween party, i noticed that the substrate in my female cresties nest box was all messed up. So i thought to my self maybe some eggs, so i checked but i didnt find anything. Well tonight i caught my female with her head buried in the substrate in the next box, so i left her alone so i wouldnt stress her out. Im going to check for eggs tomarrow. Is this normal behaviour for a female about to lay eggs? Do females without eggs do this as well?
Thanks

My female spent a lot of time digging and just hanging around in her laying box. She spends way more time in there then the number of times she has laid her clutches. I've had 3 clutches so far. 2 only had one egg and 1 clutch had 2. So far only one of the double clutch has hatched.

Since I keep my male and female together at all times I don't know if the females still spend time in their laying boxes or not but even when she was little she liked playing in the moist dirt.
